NCC Group Pledges Support for Gender Diversity in Cyber Security as Programme Deadline Approaches

NCC Group, the global cyber security and software resilience firm, has joined the “Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security” initiative as its latest industry partner.

The programme, supported by ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate and Scottish Digital Academy, will run from September-November and has ambitions to develop a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in cyber security roles across Scotland, helping to address the long standing lack of women working within one of Scotland’s most critical and fastest growing sectors.

The three-month programme, consisting of a combination of virtual and in-person group workshops and one-to-one sessions, launched its call for applications in June as is open to participants from the public, private and third sectors. The Autumn cohort will consist of 20-24 early-mid career cyber security and information management professionals, selected via an open application process by a Programme Panel including Ciara Mitchell, Head of Cyber Security at ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government’s Lead for Talent Attraction & Capability in the Digital Profession, Roz Britton and Clare el Azebbi, Head of Cyber Resilience Policy at The Scottish Government. The deadline for applications is the 13th of August.

Commenting on why NCC Group had taken the decision to support the “Empowering…” programme, Yvonne Harley, NCC Group’s Global Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs said, “Our mission is to make the world safer and more secure, and we want to invest in developing current and future talent that is fully representative of the society we are protecting. Programmes like this are critical initiatives in achieving this and we’re proud to be supporting the development of women into future cyber leadership roles.” Ms Harley will join the Programme Panel as part of NCC Group’s partnership with the initiative and help to advise on the make-up of the cohort, as well as the “challenges” that the group will face as part of their project work.

The deadline for applications to the free programme is the 13th of August and further details, including application information can be found at http://www.empowering-you.co.uk/ewlcs-scotland-autumn-2021
